The Girls by Emma Cline
WOW! I really enjoyed this book. A very creative fictional re-telling of the Manson Family (at least that is how I saw it). The story follows Evie, both as a young girl (her past) and as an adult (her present) and how she came to spend time with this cult like family and how she is dealing with what happened as an adult. Young Evie had a falling out with her best friend and found herself spending time alone. That is when she met Suzanne, an older girl that was free spirited, and that attracted Evie so much that she wanted to just be around her all the time. Evie was drawn to her life on the ranch with all the cult family including the leader. I do not want to go into the story more as to not spoil it but I highly recommend it to everyone who loves a twisted re-telling of Helter Skelter.
