Star-Crossed

Stars 5/5
Star-Crossed by Pintip Dunn

What an awesomely creative story but I have to say this book made me so hungry! The story follows Princess Vela who lives on a planet away from earth that has very little food. The majority of the people take nutritional pills but Vela sacrificed herself to become Aegis which means she can eat an over abundance of food but she lost sixty years off her life. Vela gets caught sneaking food to her friend and gets put into a jail but soon is released on the condition that she must decide who is the fittest among them to die in order to keep her father, the king, alive. Vela agrees but doesn't realize that her best friend's brother, her crush, is going to compete for the fittest. I do not want to go into the story more as to not spoil it but I highly recommend it.
