The Lifters by Dave Eggers

I really enjoyed this middle grade novel. The story line was so unique and quirky. It follows a young boy named Gran and with his family had to move to Carousel to live and when Gran started his new school, he found that the people were a bit odd. Only one person talked to him and that was a girl named Catalina and Gran knew that he liked her. One day after school, he followed her and saw her press a silver handle into the earth and a secret door opens. I do not want to go into the story more as to not spoil it but I recommend this book to kids of all ages who love a hidden secret world to find.
