The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare
This is definitely not the first time that I have read this book. I do believe I read it when I was in school and I love it now just as I loved it then. The story follows Kit, who lived in Barbados with her grandfather until his death, then traveled across the ocean to find her aunt and uncle in Connecticut. Kit realizes very soon that the new world is nothing like colorful Barbados and that the people are not like her at all. She makes friends with the woman the town calls "witch" and soon she must justify that she, herself, is not a witch. I love the way this book reads as vintage romance and I would recommend it to everyone.
